Healing your nervous system is a must in 2026

If you think of the word “trauma”, what do you think of? Flashbacks, panic attacks, or obvious signs of distress?

These things definitely are signs of a traumatized person — but the symptoms of trauma are far greater than just these.

If you’ve suffered something traumatic — for example, an abusive relationship, the death of a loved one, witnessing an horrific event or enduring childhood abuse — then you know trauma goes far deeper than nightmares and having a low mood.

It totally rewires your nervous system. Who you were before the event or events that changed you is a distant memory.

Now you zone out of conversations. Now you procrastinate, staring into space instead of doing the productive things you had planned. You snap at people you love and you find yourself starting arguments where there was no cause to be annoyed in the first place.

You say you’re “fine” when you really don’t think you are.

You’re triggered by what others may see as small incidents — a song on an advert on TV, the smell of a certain perfume that takes you right back to the traumatic place, or the change in someone’s tone as they talk to you. These seemingly small…
