If you are worried that the japa wave will pass you by because you or your sponsors don’t have several million sitting pretty in your bank account to fund your education abroad, we’ve got news for you.

Your japa dreams should not be limited to only the “trending” countries, especially if your budget is tight. There are amazing countries that not only offer quality education without breaking the bank but also welcome Nigerian students with open arms.

Let’s explore these diverse and affordable study destinations.

  1. Germany:

Germany is not just a go-to country for quality education; it’s also popular among Nigerians for its warm and inclusive environment. Many German universities warmly welcome international students, including Nigerians.  Germany is a top choice for anybody who wants an enjoyable and affordable academic experience.

  1. Taiwan:

Taiwan, known for its hospitality, is slowly becoming popular among Nigerian students. The locals are friendly, and the country is beautiful. Before you write this country off your travel list, check out how affordable their English-taught programs and living costs are.

  1. Malaysia:

Malaysia is also slowly becoming one of Nigerian students’ favorite places in the world to study. Their multicultural environment allows international students, Nigerians included, to feel right at home. And no, language is not a barrier because most of their programs are taught in English and are affordable.

  1. Poland

Located in Eastern Europe, Poland offers quality education. The locals are friendly, and the growing international student community creates an environment where Nigerian students can comfortably pursue their academic goals without feeling out of place.

  1. Mexico

Mexico should not only be on your vacation bucket list, it is also a beautiful country to move to. With its vibrant culture and friendly people, Mexico is a welcoming destination for international students who are seeking quality education. The beautiful cities in Mexico, combined with the affordability of education and living costs, make Mexico an exciting option for international students.

  1. India

You’re probably thinking – “Who put India and Japa in the same sentence”. We did and we have good reasons to. India is known for its hospitality. Contrary to what you might think, India actually has some of the best universities in the world. And many of them offer affordable programs.  Studying in India might not sound as fancy as studying in the UK but Indian universities offer quality education too.

  1. Vietnam

You probably know Vietnam because of their incredibly affordable fashion pieces and growing wig industry but Vietnam offers more than those two things. The country is slowly emerging as a study destination for Nigerian students. If you are a Tiktok user, you might have stumbled on a “Come with me to college as an international student studying in Vietnam” vlog. And if you haven’t, you should definitely look them up because there are chances that you’d fall in love with the idea of studying in the country if you do.

  1. Czech Republic

The Czech Republic, with its fairytale landscapes, is also a welcoming destination for Nigerians. Their universities offer affordable tuition fees and living costs, creating an environment where international students can feel welcome and supported.

When you make up your mind to study abroad, finding a destination that welcomes you and that you can afford is important. The countries above might not be popular but they offer quality education at affordable costs and also extend a friendly hand to Nigerian students. Instead of shutting out any japa dream that doesn’t involve Canada, the UK, or the USA, open your heart to global opportunities and adventure.
