The skill I was most scared of……
Communication is the most challenging part for many of us. We avoid it at any cost when it comes to our relationships, profession, or any meaningful conversations.
But, in the meantime, we can not neglect its importance.
“The right words, spoken with authority, carry the power of overthrowing regimes and building new world order.”
Here are examples;
- Those were the spoken words of Martin Luther King that transformed public opinion and pressured political leaders, leading to the passage of the Civil Rights Act (1964) for African Americans in the U.S.
- The fiery speech of Vladimir Lenin, “Peace, Land, and Bread”, became the foundation of the Bolshevik Revolution in October 1917. His words mobilised the masses and overthrew the provisional government, leading to the creation of the world’s first communist state.
So what I believe is;
“A voice with purpose can do what armies can not. It can break chains and create a new world.”
This is the reason; when I decided to step into the professional world, I picked the most challenging job. The job that involves effective communication, the art of convincing and persuading people, while hoping it will remove all the resistance I face in communicating with others.
Communication involves several things. Tone, body language, clarity, confidence, conciseness, empathy, active listening, empathy, and credibility.
It is difficult to master all areas. Many of us fail in this subject, not bothering about how crucial an aspect of one’s personality is missing.
But I always knew that. I knew where I was failing. I just didn’t understand the way out. My mind was clear, but direction was missing.
I always had a strong purpose, but now I have direction too.
Now I know how and where to work on my voice, pitch, tone, frequency, and loudness. How to utter a word to create impact.
Here, two things are involved: Your mind and tongue.
First, your mind should know what to speak. It gives you authority over the subject.
Second, your tongue must know how to speak. It is sort of an artistic act that captures attention and creates impact.
I have practised mind game for around two years through writing. Now, I just need to work on the speaking part.
Develop a great understanding of the area you want to talk about, and then speak with authority like you own this subject. That’s it.
