No one deserves to be abused. But let’s admit it: when we think of someone being abused, it’s either a child or a woman. No one ever imagines that men can also suffer from abuse.

According to the San Diego Sheriff’s Office, 1 in 3 victims of domestic abuse are men. However, they are less likely to report it. The reasons for this are simple.

Men are embarrassed. They don’t want anyone to know that they are being hit by a woman who is more than likely smaller than them. In our culture, men have been taught not to hit women, yet women can hit men and get away with it. More often than not, the responding police officer will believe the wife’s story over the husband’s.

In some cases, the man will not press charges against his partner for various reasons. There’s the embarrassment factor, and if she is a mother, no one wants a woman who has children to go to jail.

If the police respond to a domestic disturbance and no arrest is made, then someone will be made to leave. Most often, it’s the husband. There have been cases where a man is forced to leave his home even if he is the owner.

Women tend to be more subtle with their attacks. They may spit, scratch, or hit so the damage is not serious. They tend…
