A while ago I came across this Reel where a man talked about creating a fake account and texting an influencer daily to gain their attention. One day, he abruptly stopped texting the influencer — and got a response.
The form and function around simping is known to everyone.
We know a simp in our circle who goes the extra mile for someone they are attracted to.
But what happens when you 100x those efforts and go all?
This is a story on how powersimping can ruin your self esteem.
The Diary of a Powersimper
There were three defining periods of early teens: school, college and early work where I found myself attracted to three different women.
It was always one sided: the first one called it “puppy love,” the second said “you will find the right one” and the third left me mentally scarred.
But my idea of “pure love” was straightforward back then: keep loving and keep showing up until they feel the same way.
Every day consisted of a good morning/night text, “how are you?”, “how was your day”, etc.
The trio loved the effort but of course did not see anything concrete coming out of it.
I realised that from the first rejections but oh how good it felt to receive that reply, that notification, the idea of false hope, that maybe someday I get lucky and she replies in the affirmative.
