May Prompt: When Words Set You free
It’s been a while since I last wrote here. Not because I had nothing to say, but because I had too much on my mind. And today, I guess I’m finally unburdening my heart. Speaking my truth.
One of the things I kept circling back to was love.
Let me start by saying this isn’t just about romantic love. It’s about love in all its forms — love for yourself, your partner, your parents, siblings, friends, your roots, your country, and even the love we owe to strangers simply because we all share this planet.
Love can feel big and warm, or small and quiet. Sometimes it’s loud and obvious, other times it’s gentle and patient. And in all this reflection, I found myself trying to define not just what love is, but what it definitely isn’t.
Love is not having unreasonable expectations of someone. It’s not entitlement. It’s not secrecy, and it’s definitely not neglecting your duty or care for another. These things chip away at connection.
