I’m 26… wow. It still feels strange saying that out loud. When I was a teenager, I thought I would have life figured out by now. But here I am… still trying to find myself, and sharing this journey on Medium in the hope that it reminds you that you’re not alone in this journey of life.
It all started two months ago, when my ex broke up with me just two days before my 26th birthday. I was shattered. Until then, I believed I had everything under control, life felt perfect. I’m a doctor from India, and I’ve been trying to move to the UK since 2023. Three years on this path, tired and exhausted, trying every route I can to live my dream.
The breakup cracked something open in me. But it wasn’t just the loss of the relationship, it was the realization. I had neglected myself. I was moving through life passively, no longer enjoying the things I once loved. I wasn’t comfortable with the person I had become.
My heart felt heavy with the awareness that I had drifted so far from myself that I could barely recognize her anymore.
After grieving the relationship for a month, I slowly stood back up, letting go of the person i used to be, and with a courage I didn’t know I had, I began this journey.
I am going to unfold my life honestly — acknowledge my flaws, embrace my strengths, and work on myself one day at a time as I find my way back to myself again. I’ll share what I discover along the way, in the hope that it might help you too, in your own time and in your own way.
I don’t know exactly where this leads yet, but this is me beginning again.
To be continued…
With love,
K.
