The Surprising Designer Behind Belly’s $1,250 Wedding Dress in “The Summer I Turned Pretty”

On the most recent episode of The Summer I Turned Pretty, Belly Conklin and Jeremiah Fisher proceed with their wedding plans—much to the frustration of many of their family members. After witnessing Jeremiah, played by Gavin Casalegno, propose to Belly in episode three, this week, fans watched the new bride take another big step toward the couple’s impending nuptials by going dress shopping. In the episode, Belly’s mother, Laurel Park, refuses to go searching for a gown with her daughter, leaving Belly, who’s played by Lola Tung, to solicit the help and advice of her best friend, Taylor Jewel.

In the show, the two women, along with Taylor’s mother, Lucinda, head to a local boutique, Prom Promises, to find Belly’s gown. After considering a variety of different options, including a sequined ombré ensemble, the new bride finds the one: a floor-length 1990s-inspired slip dress with an open back. In the episode, Belly pulls the piece from the discounted sale rack. However, according to Shop Your TV, the real-life version is actually the product of a well-known designer: Victoria Beckham.

The gown, the Cami Floor-Length Dress In Ivory, retails for $1,250—and is also available in other shades, including pink, gray, and blue. It also appears to be beloved by the designer herself. “A favourite of Victoria’s, this 1990s-inspired camisole slip dress is crafted from fluid crepe back satin and cut on the bias for a figure-flattering drape,” the description reads. “A scooped deep-V at the back with horizontal strap adds a subtle sexiness while a godet insert and mini train add theatrical flair.” However, even though the real-life gown retails for a bit more than the cost that’s represented in the show, the price is still lower than that of the typical U.S. wedding dress. In 2023, the average price of such a piece fell between $1,800 and $2,400.

While it’s unclear whether or not Belly will decide to tie the knot with Jeremiah in the hit show, it does seem as though a future episode will feature a wedding ceremony. At the end of the trailer for season three, Belly’s parents are seen standing and turning in anticipation of her walking down the aisle. The clip then quickly cuts to the college student, who appears to be wearing the Victoria Beckham slip with a slicked-back bun, small hoop earrings, and two delicate necklaces, waiting in anticipation of her moment.
