That was Ellie’s first goodbye and it changed her forever.
I was watching season 1 of The Last of Us today and wow. I had no plans to get emotionally destroyed on a weekday but here we are. this show is not just about zombies. it’s about people, they trying to love, survive, trust, and hold on to what little humanity’s left.
Just wanted to share some highlights that really hit me.
This show is based on a video game where a fungus pandemic (cordyceps) turns people into infected, violent creatures. People get infected through bites or spores, and society basically collapses into chaos.
Let’s Talk Joel & Ellie
Joel didn’t want to babysit. Ellie didn’t want a babysitter. They both hated the idea. Zero trust. Zero softness. Just survival.
They cross cities, face death, and dodge fungus freaks together. Slowly, Joel lowers his walls. Ellie throws in some jokes. They begin to see each other. It’s no longer about the mission. It’s personal.
Joel gets injured. Ellie steps up like a pro. She stitches him, hunts, protects. She saves him. And that changes everything. He sees his daughter’s strength in her, and Ellie sees a father figure in him. Without saying it, they become family.
