The rise of GLP-1s has been gamechanging. In just a few short years, weight-loss drugs have transformed bodies, minds, menus and beauty ideals.

They’ve also had a more subtle, but no less significant, impact on relationships.

Some relationships become stronger because one or both parties feels more at ease in their skin. Some who use the drugs keep their use a secret for fear of judgment. Some non-GLP-1 users have described feeling betrayed when their friends and loved ones go on the drug. Couples who once bonded over food struggle when one partner loses much of their appetite and desire.
