It was that rare moment when you met a stranger’s eye
And everything feels just right
That corner of the mouth smile wrinkled just a sly
That feeling of love at first sight
I broke away from my pals and trailed her for a bit
She sensed I was behind her and sighed just for a bit
I tensed, I wanted to reach out and hold her hand
She froze momentarily, as if an angel waiting for my hand
My mind went numb
The knees followed wobbling as if on cue
The idiot tongue struck as though dumb
And yet a “Hi” materialized out of the blue !
It was a scene straight out of an old silent film
The hero didn’t know what had gotten into him
The dude was frozen in time posed in a forward press
The damsel prancing coyly swishing her dress
I shrugged off the image and finally moved ahead
I now called out wordlessly…hey it’s a start
Then my world tilted, she shook herself politely
And let out a soul splitting fart !!!
Needless to say the tale ends here
Not your typical sad ending for the weeping poet
But a cautionary tale for those who holds whimsy dear
You may start off thinking, you know that moment
When you want a bittersweet glimpse of life that gladdens the eye
But instead you get a whiff of that which burns the nostrils and bring a tear to the same eye …..
