These aren’t all inspired by my own experiences but you bet I learned from them anyways.

Classes:

  1. Don’t take more than 15 credits a quarter.
  2. Don’t take any classes over the summer even if you think you have nothing going on. Get a job and just do that.
  3. Take at least one class completely unrelated to your academic goals; you might learn something interesting.
  4. Take a class just to hang out with your friends more.
  5. Take a class at a community college. It’ll ground you.
  6. Don’t take classes online. It won’t be the same. You won’t do as well.
  7. Study alone or hang out with friends. Don’t try to do both, it won’t work. But you will be happier trying.

Living:

  1. Leave your apartment at least twice a day.
  2. Cook a nice meal for yourself.
  3. Keep your bathroom clean.
  4. Have a pet (if you have the time and funds to give it the best life ever)
  5. Don’t keep substances in your apartment. If you do, don’t touch them when you’re alone.
  6. Decorate your space as soon as you move in.

Friends:

  1. Have friends who are all different majors. Talk about your classes.
  2. Ask your friends to hang out: don’t wait for them to do it.
  3. Have your friends’ locations and let them have yours.
  4. Spend one-on-one time with your friends.

Relationships:

  1. Feel love fully.
  2. Don’t live with your partner.
  3. Don’t live with your partner.
  4. Don’t live with your partner.
  5. You’re not an adult yet. Don’t live with your partner.

Breakups:

  1. You might not always be a good person. Learn from it.
  2. The person who is kind wins. Always be kind.
  3. Let your friends help you. Talk about it. Worst case it’s an interesting story, best case you learn something.
  4. Learn when to give up. It’s usually earlier than you think.

Life:

  1. Sometimes there’s nothing you can do. But sometimes there is. Don’t confuse the two.
  2. Don’t think about stuff too much.
  3. It’s not too late. (It might be but I’d like to think it’s not)
  4. If you make a bad choice, write it down somewhere (What do you think this whole thing is)
  5. If you don’t know what you’re doing at 20 remember some people don’t at 40… You might feel like this for at least another 20 years.

Cheers to two more.
