Kate Middleton Just Debuted a New Ring Stack Featuring 4 Sentimental Pieces

Over the weekend, as Kate Middleton watched Iga Świątek and Amanda Anisimova compete in the ladies’ singles final at Wimbledon, she stepped out in an all-white ensemble that featured a structured cream top with a pleated midi skirt. She accessorized her look with a watch, a gold bracelet, small hoop-style earrings, and a new ring stack that included her engagement ring, an eternity band, her wedding ring, and a sapphire-and-diamond eternity band. While the royal has worn her newest eternity band on multiple occasions over the past few months, she had never paired it with her famous sapphire engagement ring—until Saturday’s event.

The royal’s thin gold wedding band, which was included as part of the stack, is one she designed alongside Prince William with Wartski, a Bristol jewelry company. According to the Daily Mirror, the Welsh gold used to create the ring was an engagement gift to the duo from Queen Elizabeth. In her stack, a white gold and diamond Annoushka ring sat on top of her wedding band. This piece was thought to have been a gift to Kate from William following the birth of the couple’s first child, George, in 2013, People reported.

The stack also featured a relatively new eternity band of dark gems and diamonds, which first appeared in a video announcing the conclusion of Kate’s chemotherapy treatment in September 2024. While the princess has yet to confirm what the gemstones are, they appear to be sapphires, just like the one featured in her engagement ring. In recent months, she was often spotted wearing the piece in lieu of her engagement sparkler, leading some to assume that piece was a way to honor Princess Diana.

Even though she never disclosed why she opted not to wear the famous piece, some experts noted that it likely is a challenging accessory to wear. “Most people don’t know the level of upkeep that wearing an heirloom day to day can entail,” Ben Roberts, a jewelry expert, told Hello! in 2024. “Even without any alterations, caring for an heirloom of such value comes with its own challenges. Kate and her team will need to employ careful maintenance with regular inspections and in-depth evaluations, gentle cleaning to restore sheen, and if necessary, expert repairs to ensure its longevity.”

In her appearance on Saturday, Kate paired the sentimental engagement ring with her new eternity band for the first time. However, there did appear to be one piece missing from her four-piece stack: a promise ring from William. The prince reportedly gave the band to Kate while the two were university students. In August 2024, she donned the band while filming a congratulatory video for Team Great Britain. The piece, which is set on a rose gold band, features garnets and pearls in honor of the couple’s respective birthstones.
