…She was casting me out to the shadows, dropping me into the lions’ den in the middle of nowhere. She was letting me know her leaving was permanent as she let the keys to my heart clatter on the floor and turned to go. Yet, with the painstaking intensity of the energy around us, all I could think of was how celestial she was. How hauntingly beautiful she looked in the wreckage of that exact moment. The weariness in her eyes was oddly captivating, like a magnet that pulled me towards her even as she pushed me away.

My ears were actively listening and hanging on to every word she spoke, but my tongue was tied. Even it was struck with a sudden, sharp yearning for hers, as if in response to the chaos burning inside my mind. I couldn’t think. While my brain registered the horrors spewing out of her pretty lips, my body suffered a cardiac arrest. My heart, like a child seeing a drum for the first time, was palpitating with a frantic rhythm, pumping blood at triple speed while the alarms in my head continuously shrieked “Danger! Danger!! She’s going to say it!!!”.

But my eyes refused to acknowledge the ruckus. All they could register was sweetness. I was like a carcass whose gaze remains fixed on the killer as they intentionally dissect it, helplessly observing its own unmaking.
I saw the alluring and frightful, glossy redness of the pomegranate seeds. The pearlescent moon, secretly baring her nakedness to me. She was as comforting as eggs and toast on a Sunday morning, yet as covertly hostile as the Sunday night breeze, reminding you that the dread of the new week soon begins.
My beautiful woman.

Such spellbinding eyes.
That otherworldly deepness that convinced me to join hands with her and cast a spell upon myself, suspending a cloud of doom over my own head with my own hands. The same daunting, lovely eyes that were now telling me we were done.
The very same that watched me with such a boring, and painfully unloving gaze while her mouth finished the murder.
Those pretty eyes…The ones that looked at me with such mischief and enchantment from the very first day we met. Shining so beautifully that I had to chase after her, fully aware that I was going to be turned to stone.

Those eyes…
I did not mind the idea of being slapped by them and tossed into the gutter. If that was the way my life was meant to go, so be it.
I simply guided it to be.
