PERSONAL MEMOIR
Here’s how I finally rewrote my story with my ex — for good!
For the past few days, memories of my ex have been itching all over me like that one sweater that you still wear even though it annoys hell out of you.
I couldn’t sleep, walk or bathe routinely without laying my thoughts on past flashbacks.
Some of those snapshots were worth remembering, honestly worth living, but the ending, the way we got separated, was mundane and tedious.
We never got separated for just one day.
It was a slow, drowsy erosion of our bond, termite day by day…moment by moment…talk by talk, like a droplet dipping into a bucket, eventually…explodes.
The thing is, not often is the burden of being in a relationship so heavy that, when I got separated, I felt intensely light, liberated, eccentric, and young.
But in the race of overcoming the delusional burden, I forgot what I was without that?
Who am I gonna call when stuff gets trashed? Who will accompany me in the garden for those deep talks? Who is gonna smile at me at the setting sun in front of windy weather? Who’s gonna softly hold my hand on a cold, freezing winter morning? Who?
