There’s always that one guy who thinks your passions are a “distraction from God.” You know the type — smug, self-appointed prophet, holding a bible in one hand and your confidence in another. He’ll call your music “worldly,” your art “vain,” and your dreams, “unholy.” Funny how it’s always women’s ambitions that suddenly need “saving.”
Newsflash: having a passion doesn’t mean you’re rebellious. It means you’re alive. You’re not sinning because you care about your career, your creativity, or your self-expression. You’re simply refusing to shrink into someone else’s version of holy.
And yes, even if he’s Autistic. Autism doesn’t make someone automatically wise, right, or entitled to dictate how others live their lives. It just means they experience the world differently — like the rest of us do, in our own ways. But when that difference gets wrapped up in religious arrogance, it turns into manipulation, not faith.
You don’t owe anyone an apology for loving what you love. You don’t have to trade your gifts for their approval. Passion isn’t rebellion — it’s purpose. It’s how you find your rhythm, your spark, your reason for being here in the first place.
Let them preach if they want. You’ll be busy creating something beautiful.
