Your words matter, but how you deliver them matters just as much

Being overlooked in conversations is frustrating, but the cause may be something you can change.

Being ignored hurts. You speak, and no one responds. You offer an opinion, and the conversation moves on without you. You wonder why people seem to overlook you in groups, at work, or even among friends.

The answer may not be that people do not like you. It may be that something in your communication style is pushing them away. Small habits can create big barriers. Once you see them, you can change them.

Let’s talk about eight reasons people may be ignoring you and what you can do about it.

1. You Talk Too Much About Yourself

Everyone enjoys sharing their own experiences. That is natural. But when you dominate every conversation and never ask about the other person, people start to tune you out.

A friendship or relationship thrives on mutual exchange. If you are always the one talking and never the one listening, the other person feels invisible. They are not being seen or heard.
