I was sitting on one of the floor pillows, completely immersed in work, while the couch behind me sat empty.
A few moments later, he walked in without saying a word and settled onto the couch behind me. I didn’t turn around, but I knew he was there. Somehow, his presence alone made the room feel quieter.
I was working and stressed out. I needed some rest.
I could feel his broad frame behind me, the warmth he carried reaching me even without him touching me.
I leaned back slightly and let out a long, tired sigh. I desperately needed a break from work.
Without saying a word, his warm arms came around me from behind, cradling me gently against him. His embrace made me feel safe and grounded, as if the weight I’d been carrying all day had finally found somewhere else to rest.
Suddenly, all the work stress disappeared.
Tilting my face up slightly, I looked at him. He smiled softly before pressing little kisses all over my face, my forehead, my cheeks, and the tip of my nose. Gentle, unhurried kisses that somehow melted every bit of stress I had been carrying.
He didn’t pull away.
He simply kept his arms wrapped around me, holding me close, and somehow work didn’t feel so heavy anymore.
When he finally loosened his embrace, I could feel his warmth slowly slipping away, and I already missed it.
Then, almost as if he knew exactly what I was feeling, his arms found me again.
He pulled me back into his embrace, wrapping me up like the warmest blanket.
I closed my eyes and simply stayed there, savouring the safety of his arms, wishing time would stop for just a little while longer.
