Yes, I still would.
These past few weeks, I’ve been so mesmerized by Kristin Kreuk’s beauty. She’s definitely one of the most beautiful actresses I’ve ever seen. Her eyes, hair, and jawline — they just scream perfection.
Since I’m almost done with her series Beauty and the Beast, I plan to watch her most popular series, Smallville, where she played her iconic role, Lana Lang. But as I watched more videos on TikTok about the show, I found out that she and Clark, played by Tom Welling, don’t end up together. And not only that, they kind of ruined her character, and in the end, she dies. Based on what I’ve seen, her story is quite sad, and that’s usually not my type of series.
Yet, I still have the urge to watch it. So one question comes to mind: Would I still decide to do something, even if I know I’ll get hurt in the end?
After thinking it through, I realized that yes — I would. Not only in the context of watching the series, but also in life. If there’s a chance for me to have a good time in the process and create a memory worth keeping, I think that’s reason enough to give it a shot.
In my 20s, one of the things I’ve learned is that not everything will go according to plan, and that’s okay. That’s just how life is, and it always will be.
No matter what decision you make, expect that it won’t always be as smooth as you think. As Bianca Manalo says in her podcast, “That’s the price you pay for the life you choose.” It means that whatever decision you make in life, it always comes with a price and uncertainties.
You’ve probably heard the saying, “We will never get out of here alive.” And as cliché as it may sound, it’s completely true.
So let’s make the most of our time here. Let’s choose to do something we truly enjoy, even if we know we might get hurt in the end. After all, it’s all part of life. We laugh. Love. Cry. Grieve. And that’s what makes our short stay here on Earth beautiful.
If there’s a series you want to watch (even if it doesn’t have a happy ending), a book you want to finish (even if it’s known to end tragically), or a life decision you want to make (even if it will be difficult along the way), then by all means — go for it.
Sometimes those stories, journeys, and memories waiting for you outweigh the pain you might face along the way.
So do it and add another wonderful chapter to your life today.
