Kate Middleton Just Debuted Her Largest Wedding Ring Stack Yet

In recent years, Kate Middleton often swapped out her famous sapphire in favor of a multi-ring stack, including at her first public outing in 2024 after announcing she had completed chemotherapy treatment. However, earlier this summer, she began to integrate the famous jewel back into her typical jewelry rotation. During her appearance at the ladies’ singles finals at Wimbledon this July, she donned three sentimental bands, as well as her well-known engagement ring. Yet, recently, on September 16, 2025, while attending the Duchess of Kent’s funeral at Westminster Cathedral, she added another band to her left ring finger, debuting her largest stack to date.

The five-ring stack features her engagement ring and four sentimental bands. The blue sapphire is arguably the most famous of the pieces. On November 16, 2010, Prince William and Kate announced their engagement—and revealed that the royal had used his late mother’s sparkler to pop the question. The heirloom bauble features a 12-carat sapphire stone encircled by 14 round-cut solitaire diamonds set in 18-karat white gold. However, Princess Diana caused controversy when she selected the piece in 1981; the then-bride picked it from a Garrard’s catalog, which meant that anyone could purchase the same sparkler. Decades later, the ring, which is worth approximately $520,000, is considered one of the most well-known in the world.

While Kate’s engagement ring may be the most famous in the stack, the other four bands are just as meaningful to the princess. One of them, which features dark gems and diamonds, first appeared in the September 2024 video in which Kate announced she had completed chemotherapy treatment. The piece is thought to include sapphires as a nod to her engagement ring, as well as Princess Diana. While the royal hasn’t commented on the origin story of the piece, some believe that it was a gift from William to his wife for completing her cancer treatment.

Kate’s stack also includes her gold wedding band, which she designed with her now-husband. The piece, which was crafted by Wartski, a jewelry company based in Bristol, features Welsh gold that was gifted to the pair by Queen Elizabeth after they announced their engagement. The other band in her multi-ring stack is a white gold and diamond Annoushka ring that many think was a gift from William to Kate after the birth of George, the pair’s first child, in 2013.

The newest addition to Kate’s left ring finger is a thin band with smaller diamonds. While the princess hasn’t yet commented on the story behind the piece, it may be gift from her husband to honor a particular milestone. On April 29, 2025, of this year, the duo celebrated their 14th wedding anniversary on the Isles of Mull and Iona in Scotland. It’s possible that the new sparkler was the prince’s gift to his wife to mark the occasion.
