“I found no magic potion, no horse with wings to fly, I found the poison apple, my destiny to die. No royal kiss could save me, no magic spell to spin. My fantasy is over, my life must now begin”…. Anita Baker Fairytales
I mean, she tried to tell us, correct? Can we really be mad lol. I love music. I used music as a source of strength to keep me going. I have used it for every season since childhood. However, a part of me really wishes I were mature enough to really understand the lyrics and really listen to what was said.
I feel that music leads many of us, especially women, down a dark path of delusion. Yes, I love music down to the core. But I also think it sold us a lie. We believe we will always see things the way we do in music videos and movies, but that’s not true.
Anita Baker tried to warn us that everything isn’t as it seems. That we must at times prepare for war when it comes to love. It’s not about the sweet sugary love that’s often shown to us. Love is war, and it’s a battlefield that many of us have gone through.
We also see it in the world today that love has grown so cold. Love is non-existent in the majority of the world today. I dont believe a place could continue to run on hate, pride, and ego. We, as a people, are crumbling under the lies we were taught. So what do we do now? We wake up from the fairytales in books and dreams. We began to accept reality as it is, and we do our best to love in the midst of hell. Because I do believe that love can be restored and soften the hardest heart. But we have to get rid of the delusions of fairy tales. Once we do that, we hope real healing can improve society. 🙏🏾
