Dear Don Roma,
I really like your advice column. It always helps people who are feeling lost. I’m feeling lost right now and hope you can help me.
Let me tell you my story. He and I are in an age-gap relationship. We’ve been together for over a year. When we got together, we said we wanted the experience, not necessarily a future.
I’m 42, and he’s 27. He works in real estate sales, and I work in finance. I’m divorced, and my child is in high school. I met him when I was looking for a house. We chatted on WeChat every day, and then we started dating.
At first, he always said he didn’t have money. So, I sent him money, like for an iPhone. During Lunar New Year, he went back home and asked if I could send him money. He wanted $10,000. Over the next six months, if he asked, I sent him money.
During these six months, we met two or three times a month. We just ate and talked. In June, he needed to sign up for a college program that cost about $10,000. He asked me for help, but this time I said no.
