An AuDHDer and an ADHDer step into the spotlight at the heart of the sceneā¦
Ember didnāt expect the moment to happen that night.
She expected talking. Maybe tangled legs on the couch. Maybe Junoās laugh, low and warm, slipping into the spaces Ember didnāt know needed filling.
But not this. Not the way Junoās eyes found her in the quietāāāreally found herāāālike Ember was something lit from within. Something Juno had been cold for years without.
āCome here,ā Juno said, soft but steady, Staten Island grit wrapped in velvet.
Ember crossed the space between them without thinking. And overthinking had become her middle name so this⦠was significant. Her body moved before her mind caught up.
Junoās hands were gentle at firstāāātesting, asking permission with her fingertips against Emberās hips. Emberās breath caught, and that was all it took. Juno stepped closer, sliding her fingers under Emberās shirt as if sheād been imagining this for a long, long time.
Ember felt heat bloom across her skin, low and slow, like waking up beneath warm light.
āYouāre shaking,ā Juno murmured against her neck.
āI know,ā Ember breathed. She didnāt apologize. She didnāt have to.
Juno kissed the place just below her earāāāsoft, intentional, devastating. Emberās knees nearly buckled. The kiss deepened with a gentleness that still carried hunger. Ember tasted mint, the heat of Junoās breath, the relief of two bodies finally allowed to speak the same language.
Juno kissed like she meant every single second of it. Like sheād been holding back a universe of wanting. Because she had meant every single second. And there was nothing she couldnāt hold back. She was choosing Ember right now⦠choosing herself too.
Emberās hands found Junoās waist, sliding beneath the hem of her hoodie. Her palms met warm skin, a piercing, and Juno inhaled sharplyāāāthe kind of sound that curled straight down Emberās spine.
āBabeā¦ā Juno whispered, voice shaking just enough to break Ember open. āIf we do this, Iām not gonna be cool about it. Deep down Iām not cool like that. I donāt pretend.ā
āGood,ā Ember said, pulling her closer. I donāt want cool. I want real.ā
Something deepened in Junoās expressionāāāsomething soft and fierce all at once. She guided Ember backwards until the bed caught the backs of Emberās knees.
Juno paused.
One hand on Emberās cheek. One thumb brushing her lower lip. Eyes searching hers like she was making sure Ember was choosing this with her whole chest.
āAre you sure?ā Juno asked quietly.
Ember nodded.
But Juno didnāt move. āSay it,ā she whispered. The vulnerable intensity beneath it hit Ember like a wave.
āIām sure,ā Ember said unapologetically. āI want you. You know this. I have not been⦠subtleā¦. Autism ya know?ā
Juno smiled and exhaled like sheād been underwater for years. She did know.
What happened next wasnāt rushed. They took each other. They trusted allowing themselves to be taken. By someone who truly sees them.
Slow kisses. Hands learning the shape of trust. Breath warming bare skin. Bodies leaning into each other like gravity had been waiting for the permission to pull.
Their first time wasnāt about performance or roles. It was about recognition.
The moment where Ember realized Juno wasnāt just kissing herāāāshe was letting herself be herself.
Completely unmasked.
Finally.
And Ember held her with the same reverence. When they finally melted into each other fully, Juno whispered against Emberās lips:
āFire girl⦠you undo me.ā
Ember smiled into the kiss. āGood,ā she whispered back. āLet me.ā
