For years, I convinced myself that my friendships were normal and everything is alright, I am just overthinking and Everything is OK.
But only I know there was always a feeling of being ignored, somewhere in my heart there was always something wrong. You can say I was not satisfied and always ended up sad, alone and ignored.
Then, one day I was randomly scrolling and read a quote and I felt it is written for me, it was “Stop calling and texting and you will know how many dead plants you are watering” and literally I did it, stopped calling and texting first and was very disappointed.
After sometime, they started feeling my absence and I finally said, “This isn’t working for me anymore.”
Honestly speaking, I was scared, it was terrifying.
- Guilt crept in — Was I overreacting?
- Loneliness hit hard — What if I ended up with no friends at all?
- Doubt whispered — Maybe I was the problem.
But then, something unexpected happened.
After sometime, I started feeling relaxed, my mental Health improved I felt free and that day I realized “the art of letting go is so good and important”
Finally I was free
After that, I became more productive and learned new skills met new people, made new Friends and I can proudly say Loyal and better Friends, deserve to be called as Friends and I became more Confident.
They told me how important I am, how pretty I am, how deserving and how much my worth is.
I changed, yes I changed and it is a positive change
Now sometimes I think “Was it worth it?” and the Answer is “Yes, absolutely”
If you’re on the fence about cutting off a toxic friend, ask yourself: Does this friendship lift me up or weigh me down?
Sometimes, the bravest thing you can do is walk away — and trust that better things are waiting.
Final Thought:
You don’t have to set yourself on fire to keep others warm.
