Spoiler alert: This post discusses events from the Temptation Island Season 9 finale.

Things may not have gone the way Tyler Breshears was expecting when he rolled up to Temptation Island, but he did leave the show with a promising love story. The model struck up a flirtation with temptress Kay Carlson, which escalated pretty quickly into some cuddly (but still PG) slumber parties. The sparks between them spelled doom for his two-and-a-half-year relationship with Tayler Byrd, who accused him of intentionally hurting her with his behavior in the villa.

At the final bonfire, Tyler and Tayler officially ended things, but while Tayler chose to leave the island alone, Tyler revealed that he wanted to continue exploring things with Kay. As they left the show together, the future seemed bright for Tyler and Kay, although host Mark Walberg did warn them that the fun, tropical bubble they’ve been in would burst when they enter the real world.

The show was filmed in the summer of 2024, so it’s now been nearly a year since Tyler and Kay first locked lips in Hawaii. But contrary to how their bonfire moment appeared, their relationship ended at about the same time the show did.

Netflix

In an update to Netflix’s Tudum, Tyler stated that he had not seen Kay since filming the show. The almost-couple had apparently come to an understanding during their final date that they weren’t going to work romantically. For one thing, Kay said she wanted Tyler to be single for a bit, rather than keep jumping into relationships. “We both still look back at it as a great experience,” Kay said of their short time together.

Tyler later revealed his own reason for ending things during a March 27 appearance on The Viall Files podcast. “On our final date, she just told me a little more about her career and what she does. She withheld very important information,” Tyler said. “She’s an OnlyFans model.”

He knew the relationship was over right there. “I’m very jealous in that sense, and that was a dealbreaker right away.” He went on to say the only reason he chose to leave with Kay at the bonfire after learning that was because he didn’t want to “flip the script” based on an off-camera talk that “no one’s going to know about.”

Now, Kay is dating around, and Tyler is in a new relationship with a woman named Lauren.

While he hasn’t seen Kay, Tyler did run into his ex Tayler after the show, which led to an hours-long catch-up about that failed romance. Tyler claimed that Tayler reached out to see if their relationship could still work around when he had started dating Lauren. Tayler, however, claimed that Tyler was the on pushing couples counseling to try to repair things between them, and Tayler was blindsided to learn Tyler had started dating someone else. She blocked him after that call, which became their final conversation.

“We haven’t talked since that phone call,” Tyler said. “I’ve run into her at Costco, and we don’t say anything to each other.”
