Every time I feel like I’ve moved on from you, I start missing you again. Just thinking about how I haven’t been able to connect with anyone the way we connected makes me forget about the hurt of you leaving me.
You might have made me feel like I’m not enough, but you had once praised the ground I walked on. You might have ruined my ability to trust, but you were once who I shared all my secrets with. You might have lied about what you had planned for our future, but you had once made me feel sure that we would be forever.
Regardless of you being the one who hurt me, I still think we both made a mistake. You made the mistake of leaving me and I made the mistake of loving you. So I’m stuck in this place of deciding whose mistake is worse, and whether or not I should move on. And in my mind, I’ve already made the decision that my mistake was worse, and that it’s time for me to let go of you.
But I can’t. No matter how hard I try, I can’t forget what we had. Even though you left me physically, I’ll never leave us emotionally. I’ll spend the rest of my life loving you, even if from afar, even if it’s a mistake.
